Photoshop Lightroom is Adobe next-generation tool for digital photographers. It was created from the ground up for serious photographers who’d rather spend their time shooting and not all day sitting in front of a computer. Lightroom makes it easy to import, edit, organize, process, and share digital photos in an integrated work environment. Because Lightroom is non-destructive and doesn’t alter a single pixel of the original image file--be it RAW, JPEF, or TIFF--it is lightening fast. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you can change white balance, optimize exposure, create a slideshow or a web gallery, or prepare one--or a hundred--images for print.

Mac OS X Server can be setup and managed in a fairly easy fashion. But below the surface lurks a tremendous amount of flexibility. Because Mac OS X uses a wide range of Open Source projects, both it and Mac OS X Server can be customized and configured to permit functionality that is not easily available through the GUI tools. It is in this arena that AFP548.com flourishes and it is also what this PowerTools session is designed to bring to you. Over the length of this highly customized course, we will examine several tasks that Mac OS X Server currently does and proceed to enhance them, alter them, and learn how to properly troubleshoot them. We will also examine certain tasks that Mac OS X Server doesn't currently do, and how to enable and manage those tasks. Whether you have been running Mac OS X Server since the beginning or you are a newcomer, this course has something to offer you. The course topics include Apple specific command line tools for Mac OS X Server management, Open Directory from the bottom up, launchd on Mac OS X Server, AD/OD integration-including the new Circle of Destiny, network management, and advanced Firewall usage and management. We'll also cover user importation and management, creating a calendar server, quotas and certificates. Bring your brains. It will hurt, but it's a good hurt.

For network administrators, knowing what is happening on our networks is critical. But most of the tools Apple supplies are either user/end node focused, or care only about servers or other specific machines. While those tools are useful, they're not good for telling you about the state of your routers, your internet connection, or a dozen other things that you need to know as a network administrator to keep your network running optimally. Over these two days, we'll walk you through the basic concepts behind most network tools, and show you some of them in use. We'll show you some of the basics of installing both commercial and open source tools, including some configure-compile-install open source tools. We'll also go over the ways these tools are used in the real world in Higher Ed., K-12, ISPs, and commercial enterprises.

AppleScript is an English-like language used to write scripts to automate the actions of Mac OS X and its hosted applications. Much more than a macro-language that simply repeats your recorded actions, AppleScript scripts can ""think"", making decisions based on user-interaction or by parsing and analyzing data, documents or situations. Mac OS X includes many powerful scripting features you can use to make your computer life easier.

The AppleScript Power Tools sessions are designed to provide a solid indoctrination and foundation in AppleScript for those motivated Mac users who want to begin taking advantage of this incredible automation tool. The sequential sessions are meant to deliver a ""hands-on"" experience, so bring a laptop to get the most of the in-depth discussions and examples. If you've been meaning to learn AppleScript but have not had the opportunity, this conference is for you!
